Vin Diesel joins Muscle action-comedy franchise
STXfilms, a division of Robert Simondsâ STX Entertainment, announced today that Vin Diesel will star in its new action-comedy franchise Muscle.
âIâve known Vin for more than a decade after working closely with him on the Fast and Furious franchise and Iâm excited for him to return to this genre,â said Adam Fogelson, Chairman of STXfilms. âMuscle is the perfect blend of action and comedy that his millions of devoted fans around the world have come to love him for, and we believe has the potential to become his next big, signature franchise.â
STXfilmsâ SVP of Production Drew Simon and Director of Development Kate Vorhoff will oversee the filmâs production.Â Diesel and One Race Films’ Samantha Vincent will also serve as producers on Muscle, along with producers Reginald Hudlin and Byron Phillips who brought the project to STX. There is no word yet on when production will start on the film.
Diesel has starred in and produced the five highest-grossing films in the massively successful The Fast and the FuriousÂ franchise. Â He voices âGrootâ in both the Guardians of the Galaxy films and appears in Marvelâs Avengers: Infinity War. Â He will begin shooting Sony’s Bloodshot this summer and then star in and produce xXx4.
STXfilmsâ recent releases include global box office hits The ForeignerÂ with Jackie Chan and Pierce Brosnan, A Bad Moms ChristmasÂ starring Mila Kunis, Kristen Bell and Kathryn Hahn, the Academy Award-nominated Molly’s GameÂ starring Jessica Chastain and Idris Elba, Den of ThievesÂ with Gerard Butler and Curtis â50 Centâ Jackson, I Feel PrettyÂ starring Amy Schumer, and the upcomingÂ AdriftÂ starring Shailene Woodley.
