Joseph “Joe” McFadden has joined this year’s crop of celebrities set to compete for the glitterball this autumn.
The actor is just one famous face on a star-studded roster including Ruth Langsford, Davood Ghadami, Mollie King and Gemma Atkinson.
But who actually is the Scottish hunk donning the sequins when the glittery cornerstone of the BBC returns very soon?
Who is Joseph McFadden?
Joe is best known for his role as Raffaello ‘Raf’ di Lucca in BBC medical drama Holby City.
His character on the soap is a “dedicated, driven and passionate” doctor and often has his fair share of romantic dramas.
Elsewhere, Joe has starred in Heartbeat as PC Joe Mason as well performing on the West End stage in Rent and Chitty Chitty Bang Bang.

Why has Joe signed up for Strictly?
In a statement announcing his place, Joe said: “Strictly is one of the biggest, most entertaining shows on TV and being asked to be part of it is a once in a lifetime opportunity.”
“I’m thrilled and terrified about in equal measures!” added the 41 year old.
Who will Joe be partnered with?
Although the professional line-up has been announced, we don’t know who Joe – or any of the celebrities – will be dancing with.
The pairings for 2017 will be revealed during the launch show somewhere near the start of September, usually the first or second Saturday.
How do actors do on Strictly?
Acting professionals are quite a mixed bag on the hit dancing show but generally do well.
In 2007, Matt Di Angelo finished as runner-up along with Flavia Cacace, Tom Chambers stormed to victory the following year with Camilla Dallerup and Chelsee Healey finished second in 2011 with Pasha Kovalev.
However, a few actors haven’t hit the big time with EastEnders’ Jessie Wallace and Darren Bennett going out in Week 4 of 2008’s series as did Sid Owen in 2012 with Ola Jordan.
When does Strictly start?
The official launch date for the 2017 series of the star-spangled show is yet to be announced, but the launch show – which sees the celebrities meet their partners for the first time – has been the first Saturday in September for the past couple of years.
The celebrities will be presented to the international media at a press launch on Monday 28 August.
The launch show will be filmed sometime during the following week and, if broadcast the Saturday immediately after, that would make it the evening of Saturday 9 September 2017.
Week one usually begins in two parts towards the end of the month with some of the celebrities making their dance floor debuts on the Friday and the rest on Saturday.
