The Loose Women panelist underwent a hysterectomy in September 2016 and admitted she struggled to get back ino regular exercise following the surgery.

In a shoot for Fit & Well magazine, Andrea McLean, 48, looks incredible in a saucy, skintight blue bodysuit.

Revealing the fitness routine that helped her get back in shape, Andrea – who is set to tie the knot very soon – said: “I’d lost all my strength so I had to start very gently.

“I was lunging from one side of the room to the other, stopping, gasping for breath and hanging on to the wall.

“I took two months off exercise and found it frustrating and depressing – I hadn’t realised how important exercise was to me mentally.”

Since then, Andrea and her fiancé Nick Feeney have been having regular personal training sessions to try and build up her strength.

Andrea continued: “Slow, steady weight training worked best. I had to build up very gently after the op.

“But, actually, I think women of my age are fitter than younger women because we’re doing it sensibly.”

Explaining she is “proud” of her body, Andrea said she still has “cellulite, grabby bits and scars”, but feels she is “in great shape”.

Andrea also said she has become careful with what she eats.

She said: “I’ve suffered with shingles-like viruses throughout my life, so I looked into what foods are good for your immune system, metabolism and menopause.

“A vegan diet had everything I wanted – I can digest it all properly, as I get irritable bowel when I’m stressed, and I’m intolerant to milk. But I’m not vegan. I’ll happily have a steak! I call myself vegan-ish!”

Andrea’s preparation comes ahead of her wedding to Nick – the pair announced their engagement in August after four years together.
